How it works
Pick a subject worth watching — weather, wildlife, water, or a working street — and a mounting spot with power and signal.
Connect the camera to a streaming relay so one upload serves unlimited viewers reliably.
Embed the feed on a page, add uptime monitoring, and review privacy masking as the scene changes.
Questions people ask
What is the difference between a webcam and an IP camera?
A webcam needs a computer to stream; an IP camera has networking built in and can publish its own feed. For an always-on public view, IP cameras are the usual choice.
How much bandwidth does a live cam need?
A 1080p stream typically uses 3–6 Mbps upload. Many public cams stream to a relay service once, which then serves every viewer, so your own connection is not the bottleneck.
Can I legally point a camera at a public street?
Rules differ by country. Filming public space is often allowed, but audio recording, private property in frame, and identifiable people can trigger stricter laws — check local rules and mask sensitive zones.
